What is Vedic meditation?

Vedic Meditation is a simple, effortless and ancient technique that stems from the 5000-year-old body of wisdom know as the Veda, which means ‘knowledge’ in Sanskrit. All of Indian philosophy, yoga, and meditation comes from this body of knowledge, which encourages us to align our bodies and daily lives with the rhythms of Nature.

A personal mantra or sound is given at your first initiation session. This mantra silently allows the mind to settle down to quieter and more subtle states. This settling of the mind triggers profound levels of rest in the body allowing stress to unwind and the body to heal.

Practicing Vedic Meditation is easy. There's no concentrating, focusing or trying to stop thoughts. VM is designed for everyday people who need a technique to reboot, tap in, regulate stress and live a more fulfilled life.

The Technique

Vedic meditation is a simple and effortless daily practice that anyone can learn. We sit comfortably, with our eyes closed, twice a day for 20 minutes and gently lead the mind and body to a more de-excited state. We do this by using a personal mantra or sound, which calms the mind, rests the body and dissolves any built up stress and fatigue. No focus or concentration is required and a daily practice will bring a myriad of benefits to all aspects of life.

The Tradition

Vedic meditation derives from a 5,000 year old body of knowledge known as the Veda, the same body of knowledge yoga and Ayurveda originate from. Its integrity has been maintained through an unbroken line of teachers to this day. The technique is specifically designed for ‘householders’, making it easy for people leading busy and full lives to incorporate into their day. Like yoga and Ayurveda, it can be practiced by anyone regardless of religion or belief system. You don’t have to believe in it to derive its benefits - even if you don’t believe in it, it still works.

The Benefits

The simple and tangible benefits gained from practicing this meditation technique are enjoyed by millions of people around the world including mothers, fathers, children, students, professionals and sports people. Participants come from all walks of life and share a common desire to dissolve tension and fatigue and gain a greater sense of health and wellbeing. Some of the benefits include:
